We had the opportunity to sit down with CEO and Founder of Cleanyst, Nick Gunia. Cleanyst is a customizable system for all your personal care and household cleaning needs. Users can easily create natural body solutions and cleaning products from the comfort of your home using plant-based concentrates and water from your tap. Cleanyst helps reduce carbon emissions, minimizes plastic waste and contributes to a kinder, more conscientious supply chain.
He shared the following tips on how to live more environmentally responsible.
1. What are some eco-friendly trends you see for 2022?
Reuse, reuse and reuse. Not only can reusing products save energy but, it can also save money and help sustain the environment for future generations. Cleanyst system features a countertop appliance, reusable mixing bottles and concentrates that are delivered directly to your door. We built this company around reusing bottles and the idea of reuse was a vital role in our mission. Our customers at Cleanyst must reuse the bottles in way one or another. We empower them to make a virtual limitless array of products including solutions with higher viscosity like dish soap and laundry detergent.
2. Why do you think it’s more important to start being eco-friendly at home?
Your home is where you live and your family lives. You take care of yourself and your loved ones before everything else. Home is where you start building good habits. Each year, the average household uses dozens of single use plastic bottles in home care and body care products. Our products don’t generate waste at home nor tested on animals.
3. How is utilizing plant-based products better for the environment?
Cleanyst is 99% plant-based. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny Certified which means that our products and ingredients are not tested on animals. Our entire line of premium body and home care concentrates has also earned the USDA’s Certified BioBased Product label, and is free of dyes, fragrances, parabens and other potentially harmful chemicals. Our products are also 100% vegan and do not contain animal-derived ingredients. Plants are renewable and do not extract fossil fuels resources and much better than petroleum derived products.
4. How to be more eco-friendly at home?
There are lots of ways to reduce environmental footprint at home. Lower electricity consumption at home by turning off lights, a/c when not in use and unplugging appliances when not in use. We also encourage our customers to unplug Cleanyst when they’re not mixing concentrates.
5. When do you think people start developing better habits?
Younger generations can learn how to be more eco-friendly at home. I love getting my kids involved in the mixing process and they also love “mixing time!” We gather around the appliance while the young ones help me prepare what I need to mix the product. They’re learning the importance of reusing the bottles, learning about carbon footprint and how to minimize as we’re mixing.
